The following is a collection of photos of the slime moulds that were not involved in my experiment. These slime moulds were grown in case I needed to use a different sample of slime mould. I also used these slime moulds as a way of observing the different characteristics of slime moulds, such as protoplasmic streaming.

The captions for photos in the Photo Gallery and in the Slime Mould Used page look best on a computer or tablet.
Above: Pieces of the 'master' slime mould that I transferred to an empty ice cream tub when they tried to escape the Petri dish.
Above: A piece of the master slime mould has grown to engulf the oats in its Petri dish.
Left: Master slime mould divided and put in an empty ice cream tub to prevent it escaping its original Petri dish. The edges of the tub are covered in salt to stop the slime moulds climbing up the sides.
Close-up of two slime moulds that have grown to engulf some oats. The slime moulds have thickened the main tendrils to maximise the nutrients gained from the oats, with the least energy used.
A section of the slime mould in a Petri dish in the ice cream tub has escaped and is trying to cling to the wall and the underside of the Petri dish.
Another section of the slime mould has escaped the Petri dish in search of fresh food.
